Music Ministry
Sunday after Sunday, Catholics come together to celebrate the Mass. We move through the liturgical seasons as a community to remind us that it is through our common prayer and sacramental life that we breath life into our faith. Through music, we are drawn into the art of prayer. Sung prayer is an opportunity for all of us to be drawn into the opening of our hearts to Christ and utilize the gift that music is in our lives.
We believe that God dwells within each of us and that God is the true giver of music. We believe that when we make music by song and by instrument, we sing and pray to our Creator. Most of us have heard the quote by St Augustine that singing is praying twice, but he goes on to say that, “Singing is for the one who loves.” Music is a profound sign of God’s love for us and of our love for God.
Our Mission
At St. Francis Parish, our musical goals are to have each person realize that music is an important part of prayer. It is not only a way we pray during our liturgies, but also a way in which we can call forth the gift of music to deepen prayer, both personal and in community. Music is a ministry that everyone is invited to be part of. Whether we are in the pews or leading prayer with music…All are welcome.
